Can I use teacher judgment
(simply a grade) rather than a percentage for
the test scores that I enter? Yes.
In many schools some departments prefer to work
in this way. Simply note which subjects would
prefer to work this way and they will be able
to use an alternative system specifically designed
to work in this manner.
How do I accommodate different
tiers of exam entry when I use this product?
Different exam tiers have different grade
boundaries.
The most common solution used by schools is
to make copies of the system (under the conditions
of the site licence). Name each of these copies
accordingly. For example a file named Yr 10
Maths Higher, a copy named Yr 10 Maths Intermediate
& another copy named Yr 10 Maths Foundation.
Within each file the grade boundaries can be
set to match the tier of the exam.
An alternative is to allocate test 1 the higher
grade boundaries and test 2 the foundation grade
boundaries, and then only use one test per term
to check value added data.
Can I request a custom build
system designed to exactly match my own SOW?
Yes. However it would be cheaper to try and
work within the features of the available systems.
Is there INSET training
available on the most productive use of the
product?
Currently this is not available / necessary.
We would hope that the user instructions supplied
with the product and the demonstrations shown
on this site should be sufficient.
We will continue to update the site with additional
user information as we continue to receive comments
from users. See contact us, for details on how
to make your suggestions for improvements.
As an existing customer
will I be eligible for discounts on updates
and on future products?
Yes. We will aim to reward existing customers
by offering discounts on product updates and
on other products that become available in the
future.
What pupil data do I need to have for the spreadsheet
to work?
The average (English Maths & Science) KS2
or KS3 points score for each pupil is needed.
Most schools will have a data manager who will
be able to supply this data for you. Or just
the Fisher Family Trust data if this is used
in your school.
Will the product work on my PC?
Windows XP and Office 2003 with latest service packs (full install) are required.
Can I use any source of data to check the
value added for my students?
The system comes preloaded with the latest
Autumn Package data. In addition any other source
of value added can be entered either as a GRADE
or as a GCSE points score. At the press of a
button you can switch between each source of
value added comparison. Many schools are now
investigating the use of FFT data.
